I BROUGHT PIPER to lakewood it's when you look in the mirror and see him in your OWN REFLECTION that you know ; brandon james wasn't a monster. BUT WHAT ARE YOU?
#GIRLRUIN ind. & private audrey jensen. written by ASHLEY.
❛ what EXACTLY did you mean about the other night ?? about gustavo drawing me covered in blood ?? what did you see audrey ?? ❜
it’s hard to really process that actual moment when the only thing that continues PLAYING is seeing the killer out in the woods, and the FEAR that she felt. she’s still trying to distinguish if it was even real or not. for now emma is just trying to take her mind off of it, and seemingly onto something a little LESS frightening.
❛ look, i know i should have told you about it first — IT’S JUST with your dad & everything else – i didn’t want to freak you out —-❛
breath releases in a sigh as she twists words that are only partially true but with good intent. she doesn’t want emma to worry ( god knows the girl has enough on her plate ) but it’s more than that —- she doesn’t want to risk emma finding out the TRUTH. it’s selfish, DARK of her // the secrets she’s so desperate to keep locked away. BUT SHE CAN’T IGNORE EMMA. —– not even if she tried. ❛ noah thinks i’m paranoid, but stavo has CRAZY STALKER written all over him – why else would he be drawing us? he has these weird drawings, em, of ALL OF US — i don’t trust him. ❛
❛do you think me & you need to talk about what happened at kieran’s birthday bash or should we just let it die because i’m in favor of going with the latter option. ❜
teeth nervously chew on lower lip, fingertips awkwardly drumming upon own thigh as he speaks. the residue of the events that had occurred the previous evening linger in the air. the fine threshold of platonic had unfortunately been crossed all due to some poisoned shots. he probably cares far more than she does. her mind tended to be elsewhere as of late far away from where his resided. they used to be in sync perfectly. things had changed as did people but it is something he does not want to admit out loud. bicurious & the virgin were still intact. perhaps a bit frayed, but still whole. for now. // @noaccomplice♥’d
❛ NO —— we shouldn’t talk about it, because there’s nothing to talk about. ❛
it’s as simple as that as far as she is concerned ; never before without the influence of spiked tequila & gut-wrenching hallucinations had her mind ventured to the possibilities of what it would be like to kiss noah foster. despite the AWKWARD AFTERMATH, it didn’t phase her, not nearly as much as it seemed to phase her questioning partner in crime, not when she had other things to focus on. ❛ it was the drugs, noah – ❛ thoughts come to a pause as brows furrow – the girl that once knew her best friend’s every move hadn’t been paying nearly enough attention. she had been too pre-occupied with her own thoughts, own growing obsession. ❛ — ANYWAY, why are you asking me about it ? ❛
a sigh from arced petals// legs settled across the lap of her new flame. it was all longing glances, stolen kisses ; but she didn’t mind. a secret affair wasn’t uncharted territory, lies slipping ACROSS swollen lips with the ease of too much use. but hidden truths do little to dull her bliss.
❛ DO WE HAVE to go out with everyone else tonight?❜
her voice holds a bit of weight to it, and her breath catches in her throat a little too noticeably when slim legs shift atop her own. there’s only so much a sexually confused teenage girl can take //& having brooke maddox sprawled across her laps with swollen lips & pale skin definitely wasn’t helping. ❛ there’s a good chance they’ll murder us if we don’t show up again … ❛ NOT THAT SHE CARED — a sentiment that was expressed by the way curious hands ventured to brooke’s sides where her shirt rode up and pale, soft skin was exposed. ❛ but it might be worth it. ‘ a lazy grin hangs from the corners of her lips and she leans up, leaves a ghost of a kiss on the blonde’s lips and pulls away just-slightly, heart pounding in her throat, a silent offer. ❛ –UP TO YOU. ❛
❛ ALL I WAS DOING WAS TALKING TO ZOE. which did not end so well, as i’ve already pointed out. being rejected is definitely not a good way to start off the morning. ❛ ramblings of the misfortunes a teenage boy has suffered in the romance department are being vastly ignored by the one person that was supposed to listen. he would have better luck bringing the subject up to brooke later on in the day after the pageant contestants were selected in an assembly that the entire school was forced to endure. she was sure to be one of those few. being the daughter of the mayor was certainly interconnected with a few advantages. as if they genuinely cared so much about lakewood days. it was an event that would show some pride & dignity for their small hometown after the tragedy of a few months prior. townsfolk wanted something to the lakewood name other than carnage. personally, he liked the idea of embracing what had happened. blossom from the gaping wounds never tended to.
❛ it’s just why would she even think that i liked you like that ? i mean, yeah, we kissed because we had some spiked tequila & we spend a lot of time together but that shouldn’t give off the wild assumption that i want bicurious & the virgin to have an upgrade. hey are you even listening to me? ❛
an exhale is finally provided after that lengthy speech, backpack slung over shoulder with a prolonged sigh.
❛ YEAH — ❜ as if the dismissive tone of her voice wasn’t enough to confirm the fact that she was not at all paying attention, then the brief hand gesture in noah’s direction as a way to wave off his current topic of choice definitely did the job. she was far too preoccupied with her steadily growing suspicions, ones that – if correct – that could finally put an end to the mysterious text messages, ominous phone calls, and new string of murders – getting noah to focus would probably be the hardest part . ❛ zoe thinks we’re a thing – she’s crazy. i got it, ❜ there’s a heavy pause as fingers twist absently around the strap of her messenger bag and a new conversation is shoved upon her partner in crime.
‘ HEY, ANYWAY, did you see stavo this morning? ❜ the thoughts are ever-present in her mind and she needs the validation, needs someone else ( preferably her best friend ) to see her suspicions and gustavo’s sketchy behavior — to understand. it’s enough to make her skin crawl whenever she passes the sheriff’s son in the hallway — it’s not just her imagination ! ‘ i mean, it’s like he’s totally un-phased by everything that happened last night – seriously, there’s something off about him. ❜
he had to admit, he was pretty impressed with how consistent audrey was being with her suspicions. no one had ever watched him this closely. ❛ what were you trying to do last night ? get me grounded or something ? ❛
GAZE IS LIFTED to the very last person she has any interest in seeing right now – the same person who’d she previously spent the last ten minutes glaring at from across the room. her phone is held with a vice grip, a zoomed in picture of the very suspect in question clearly taking up the space as eyebrows furrow when he confronts her. a scoff raises heavily in her throat, skeptic and incredibly done – after all, if he really wanted to go there, then she wasn’t going to hold back – not when there was an extremely strong possibility that gustavo spent his free time murdering people and blackmailing her. there was no way in hell that she could just let that possibility go // she clung to it - wanting, needing an answer. ( no one ) else seemed to see the least bit concerned about him, but audrey knew better than to just let creepy motives slip under her radar. ’ do you seriously think that i don’t know what you’re up to? ’ her question comes fast & sharp, almost daring him to prove her wrong. ’ all of those pictures you’ve been drawing of us – just convenientlySHOWING UP to the party last night – what kind of game are you playing, huh? what are you trying to prove ?! ’
the hard & focused gaze of hers focused upon a certain mysterious newcomer has gone remotely unnoticed. mind is locked & chained within innocent self-absorption. the conversation with zoe is on constant replay throughout his head. it was a disheartening loss. he had been beginning to really like her. she was pretty & they shared similar interests. not to mention the power duo they had the potential of becoming. after all, they were the smartest kids in their year. their names were legendary in the classroom.
AND THEN THERE WAS AUDREY. he remembers exactly what it felt like to have her lips upon his. it had been softened warmth; a stark contrast from the coldness she had been giving him recently. for the briefest of seconds, it was as if nothing between them had ever changed. but then the drugs had worn off & the darkened cloud of reality had settled above his head. the question asked on whether or not he had romantically inclined feelings for his platonic favorite person. the question has been continuously flickering on & off all morning. he can’t push one thing away- he had kissed his best friend & liked it. perhaps it didn’t mean anything. in the end, they were drunken teenagers. everyone kisses their best friend at least once in their lives.
❛ someone’s jumpy. well, i was passing through the hallway & decided to say hi to my best friend. very odd, i know. ❛ that awkward pause is present. a cough, a clear of throat. ❛ zoe actually told me off & ended whatever we had going because she thinks i like you. my non-heterosexual best friend. that’s funny, right? ❛
‘ —– NOT JUMPY, i just didn’t expect you to be back so soon, ‘ & even still, as she preoccupies herself with digging through her bag, there’s something off and tense about her body posture. she’d like to thank the night of drugged tequila and hallucinating her dead ex-girlfriend, but she knows it’s not that – it’s the discomfort and the skin raising sensation she gets whenever she meets eyes with the sheriff’s son // the anger and paranoia that rises in her throat whenever she passes him in the hallway. it’s overwhelming, to say at the least & the fact that no one else seems to be bothered by him might just be eating away at her. in her effort to stay calm & focused, it’s all she can do to refocus on her best friend’s current girl problem, but she can’t bring herself to give noah her full attention.
’ YEAH, HILARIOUS, ’ a scoff rises from her throat and truth be told, she’s only half listening, still rummaging through her bag a few moments longer before she stops and looks back up at him. ‘ it was the drugs, noah. you know it, i know it — she knows it too. just — don’t overthink it. give her some time to come around. ‘ her advice is breathed out with a shrug and she gestures down the hallway. ’ but, in the meantime, i GUESS YOU’RE STUCK sitting with me at this lovely assembly we get to go to. ’
‘ yeah, well — THAT’S LAKEWOOD for you, ‘ aside from the bluntness of her tone, the sharpness of which makes it clear that she’s not in the mood for yet another conversation about the deluded prank from hell, there’s a curious raise in her eyebrows. fingers curl tentatively around the pen in her hand, a defensive gesture as she breathes out the rest of her response; ‘ always so charming —- but i’m USED TO IT. ‘
